06.18.2025
6:00 pm–8:00 pm

With Monay Johnson

On the occasion of Juneteenth, commemorating the delivery of the declaration of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas as the official end of chattel slavery in the U.S., scholar and cultural worker Monay Johnson will guide a teach-in starting with a presentation on the work of poet, scholar and activist June Jordan to reflect on liberation as an ongoing process. Drawing on the language, frameworks and histories of Black Feminism, Johnson will discuss the possibilities and complexities of approaching organizing across differences as we struggle towards greater freedom.
